This is one of my first loves in Detroit.
So beautiful that I nearly stopped and wept in the crowd of white and black and asian and indian and mexican-suburb people-street people.
Mix.
With.
Fruit and Vegitables lovingly sold by earthy and flitty locals.
Popcorn and Cider.
Meats, flowers, eggs and potted plants and all those people!
Marching bands and steel drummers.
Man!!!

Driving south on Woodward today, I used the new 8 mile bridge.
Now let me say, I've never been a fan of the 8 mile bridge. I've always thought of it as a separator more than a connector-if you catch me.
The bridge was recently redone and I admit, I was wrong.
It's beautiful.
It's clean-still more than 2 months into the re-do.
It's elegant with cool retro lighting and vintage looking black and white photos of olds cars in traffic.
It not only connects Detroiters to eachother-it connects us to our history (and HER-story! )
When your arch over the apex-the skyline of Detroit is revealed.
Wow.
And people golfing at Palmer Park.
And a lady getting a donut from a mom and pop shop that's ancient.
And a vegitarian cafe/healing center.
This is a beautiful town.

Detroit! Do you know why you rock?
Two words.
Coney Island.
Not just any coney, mind you. But, a coney where I can get spinich pie, green beans in red sauce and baklava 24-7.
Man-I know New York and LA are cool, but...

Detroit.

My grandpa is a very wise and faithful man. He says when things are tough on you, it's best to pray for someone else.
So...
God, come and comfort those who lost loved ones on 9.11.
Bring them peace. Stand beside them and fill the empty spots left behind.
Heal our nation, Lord.
Guide our president and all leaders.
May your deep peace prevail on earth.
